Games@lemmy.world•Day 576 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playingEnglish
3·1 month agoI started the original Oblivion not long ago, been playing for some tens of hours. First time experiencing the Elder Scrolls, it’s an interesting game with quite some depth. I got turned into a vampire and am doing a vampire quest and it’s a bit tedious with not being able to stay in the sunlight but other than that it’s a good game.
Oblivion doesn’t feel too far from modern game mechanics, but what about morrowind?

0·2 months agoFunnily enough, this is the type of issues proton solves beautifully and transparently on linux, making it a great gaming platform in general but particularly so for aging video games! If you own this game on steam, just launching it on linux should work out of the box.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•PSA: Don't use nextcloud's auto upload on the android app as a backupEnglish
0·3 months agoThank you! It seems the ongoing 3.35 version is reimplementing the auto-upload logic, so this is promising. It is still in RC stage, but hopefully will be stable soon.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Someone Snuck Into a Cellebrite Microsoft Teams Call and Leaked Phone Unlocking Details
0·5 months agoThis is a good precision to be aware of.
It is still an important function because in some places law enforcement may be legally authorized to compel a user to unlock their phone using biometrics, but of course if you disable biometrics, there are less options to force you to enter your passphrase/password etc.
Same, using the default storage template.
I’ve not been able to make it work reliably with photos backed up using immich on my android phone, is if working for you? I read somewhere storage templates are not very robust/reliable.

0·5 months agoInteresting setup. Funnily, I have one specific subdomain hosted on an actual cloud provider, publicly and all other subdomains are private and local. It works just fine :)
In the end, there’s like a tradeoff between enjoying your system as is and pouring I don’t know how many hours in setting it up when it’s a new idea haha

0·5 months agoI’m not trying to expose it to the internet and there are indeed multiple solutions to get HTTPS. This one works with a real domain name is what works best for me :)

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[question] Help me access my local homeserver using a public domain nameEnglish
0·5 months agoYes it does. Are you using Firefox? And you can’t resolve local ip addresses, so that’s why you are setting this exception?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[question] Help me access my local homeserver using a public domain nameEnglish
0·6 months agoWouldn’t that require me to use tailscale even at home on my home network? It also does not provide HTTPS unless you maybe use magic DNS, but then we’re back to using a public domain I guess.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[question] Help me access my local homeserver using a public domain nameEnglish
0·6 months agoSince it knows the DNS will always be public, it also knows that the 192.168.10.20 address is not routable on the internet where it found it.
That is in fact not it. I left the default firefox DNS setting. I simply enabled
network.trr.allow-rfc1918from within theabout:configwhich allows the resolution of local IP addresses. It now works. All my DNS are public, I make no use of any private, local DNS.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[question] Help me access my local homeserver using a public domain nameEnglish
0·6 months agoWorks flawlessly with my tailscale setup :) Thanks for asking! I’m not trying to expose anything to the open. Just for me personally, from home or remotely using my VPN.
Some apps will rely on Google services to determine whether they are running on a “secure” device (ie determined by Google). This is refered to as hardware attestation. But there is a Google version of it and a generic version of it (which is implemented in GrapheneOS). If the bank relies on the Google version, it will fail on GrapheneOS, despite actually having hardware attestation.
You can read more about it here : https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide
