  • The standards of ROE they hold fucking police officers to is absolutely fucked. They draw their weapons at the drop of a hat and fucking POINT a weapon at unarmed people all the fucking time. The second weapon safety rule is to NEVER point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot. IN A FUCKING WAR ZONE, a mfer could be cursing at you with a goddamn AK pointed at you and ROE say you still aren’t justified to engage. If a cop points a weapon directly at someone, that establishes intent by basic-ass weapons safety rules that these jackasses are supposed to be trained in. Charge all cops with attempted murder that point weapons at unarmed people. And I mean that unironically, pass a law and everything. They can’t keep getting away with escalating all these situations so fucking often that people feel the need to arm themselves and put on body armor just in case they run across a cop. And if these baby-bitch cops can’t be trusted with firearms, how about we take their fucking guns and arm minorities instead. At least minorities in America actually have a reason to fear for their lives enough to arm themselves.

  • I find it important to dogpile and emphasize your point on the importance of organizing. I hope my echoing your message makes it louder to everyone.

The second amendment doesn’t mean shit if you don’t get some fucking friends and organize. Dropped some feds trying to unlawfully break into your home because you have the right to defend yourself in your own home? Neat, you’re a target now. Have a support network of people? You can relocate quickly, you have places to hide while the initial heat dies down, you have greater access to acquisition of legal council, you have help with cleanup, you have that many more voices to speak out on your behalf for media coverage and legal defense, you have more places to reliably keep your pets and kids safe, and if/when it really comes down to it, you have more guns to point toward your oppressors with multiplied efficiency. People tend to neglect to consider what to do in the aftermath in these situations, and the answer, like literally every other political scenario, is to have some fucking friends in the first place.

Guns or no, the most important thing is always to have a community. There is not a single scenario where gun ownership is more important than securing and cultivating a community. Guns, much like food, water, shelter, other tools, cars, medical supplies, etc is just one of the words that come after “community and”. For any political movement or even just plain survival, community is NOT optional. Go make some fucking friends. Go network. Go organize. It has been and always will be step one.

  • I mean like, what are we supposed to do with this? You can say that democrats aren’t doing anything about this, but what does that even mean? The author goes on and on about the dangers of fixed elections and all, which, I mean, yeah, but it’s pretty easy to shift the burden of proof by making a claim that people aren’t doing anything about it. Okay? I can’t help but notice the author didn’t mention what they think they should see to “do something about it”. The only thing he mentions the dems are doing is running a campaign like business as usual, but nothing else. He makes the claim that this is the dems just ignoring the threats, but not only is that not necessarily true, it’s actually a legitimate political tactic used to fight said election fraud. I don’t know if the dems are actually doing that or disregarding the dangers and pretending like everything is fine as the author implies, but the author also doesn’t know that. This reeks of doomer/defeatist bullshit.

Let’s not get it twisted; I’m not defending the dems at all. My take is that some of them are doing things, and lots of establishment dems are doing nothing to the point of obstructing any form of resistance other dem officials are trying. I think the reason the establishment dems are like this is just plain apathy and complacency, but that’s just speculation. In terms of democrats resisting election interference, I think they’re just too scattered and aimless in approach to make meaningful progress.

So to my point, if it is the case that dems(or literally anyone else) are actually doing some form of something, then that gives people something to join and something to do. However, if we’re faced with “the dems are doing nothing”, then boy does that sure give fuel to those that want us to be hopeless and do nothing. So, again, what’s the point of this article?

  • I mean, sure? Probably even? But this really only emphasizes my point that they’re straight up stupid and beyond incompetent. Even the Romans, for how brutal they were, understood the importance of civic justice in maintaining the continued rule of the state. If the state no longer maintains it’s judiciary responsibility, they’ve basically abdicated their own legitimacy. You can say that the state isn’t abdicating it’s legitimacy if it at least is bound by some of it’s laws, but if the state picks and chooses, is the state not directly questioning it’s own legitimacy? I should point out that it’s hyperbolic for me to say that the state not binding itself to any one law abdicates it’s legitimacy, but there are certain points of judiciary responsibility that will greatly erode the legitimacy of the state if it doesn’t maintain them or at least appear to. A very public murder like this is definitely one of those points. Erosion of state legitimacy brings a fragmentation of those that would maintain it’s power, and I really don’t think they’re considering this factor at all. Those in essential positions within the government will become less inclined to maintain their loyalty to the state and be much more tempted to join those seeking to resist the state’s existence. Setting this precedence sets this administration on a trajectory to an untenable position. The waning loyalty and increasing sentiment of resistance isn’t something that is generally very visible until it VERY much so is. They seem to think they can keep literally and figuratively shooting at us, but it won’t be surprising to those paying attention when more and more of “their own” start shooting back at them.

  • Uhhh… uh oh. Considering the immediate and widespread outrage response across the country from this very public murder, this is a boldly stupid move. Resentment and distrust of the US government is already at an all time high, and doubling down on an extrajudicial murder like this is only going to not only grow that resentment, but popularize the idea that if the people want justice, they’ll have to do it themselves. This administration has been making some especially stupid moves recently and I don’t think the world is prepared for the consequences. Like yeah, sure, the trump admin has always blahblahblah, no shit. I must emphasize that this particular term of the administration hasn’t even been this stupid until the last few months. They are very much so overplaying their hand right now and they are absolutely not in a position to handle this level of escalation. I’m pretty sure they both think they have way more control than they actually do and have way too much faith in very inadequate contingencies. They’re gonna continue having the appearance of being firmly in control, but at this rate, it’s just a matter of time before it blows up in their face and then no one is in control. I can’t emphasize enough how unprepared we all are for how quickly that will happen when it does.

  • While it’s certainly true that Jim Beam can no longer honestly keep the label of ‘all American’ due to corporate structure, they have kept up much of the American tradition and culture around Kentucky bourbon by generally letting them run autonomously. However, to your point, that’s definitely not guaranteed to continue-especially if profits are gonna start being fucked with. American jobs and culture are under pressure from both trump and outside corporate organizations. It was already insulting enough that a faceless corporation took it upon itself to be a steward of a part of American culture and history, but then the shameless sellout? It’s that irresponsible behavior that makes these corporations so inherently unreliable and untrustworthy no matter how faithful they may act for however long.

  • Yeah, I feel this sentiment very strongly. Complacency is what they want, because then you just mindlessly participate in the system. It’s difficult to not participate in the system by default since it’s like “hey man, I just work live here”. So not only do you need to be educated in wtf these systems even are, why they’re bad, and how to best engage/disengage with them, you have to actively make an effort to change with energy not a whole lot of people have these days. Some may see this reaction to Microsoft as silly and overblown, but people getting rid of windows could literally save their life due to the systems of surveillance built by Microsoft aiding increasingly dangerous and malicious political actors.

  • Haha, thanks man. For me personally, I’m a socialist and punk to my very soul, so the hate for Microsoft runs ultra deep. In addition to everything I mentioned before, I’ve become much more wary of the software running in my house due to an increase in political risk. There’s no longer just a privacy consideration for general security, but now a heightened existential risk involved. Microsoft is part of the problem in perpetuating the existing system of oppression, so absolutely fuck em.

  • I’ve been absolutely seething over Microsoft’s bullshit for years. Over the years of having less and less control over my own fucking computer, the parasitic privacy invasion, the dumbfuck constant bloat, the cartoon level evil of Microsoft in general, the constant degradation, forcing unnecessary features and ads, and generally just the sheer audacity. Honestly, I’ve just kinda been putting up with it for not much more than “it works for now and I’m just tired, man”. However, then Microsoft started pushing ai and some updates that were literally bricking systems so I could no longer justify having a switch from windows being such a low priority; it was now a liability. I’m now running CachyOS and I’m quite happy with the switch. Everything just fucking works, not to mention the very noticeable performance boost. Fuck Microsoft.
