In a slightly distorted norwegian/danish “hvad? Alena?” translates to “what? Alone?”

News@lemmy.world•People Who Drink Bottled Water on a Daily Basis Ingest 90,000 More Microplastic Particles Each Year
0·4 months agoYeah, I’m waiting for the comments in the style of “an average person ingests 3*10^12 plastic particles each year.” I have no reference to the number.
That’s dumb (which originally meant “mute” or “unable to speak”)
I live in a tourist heavy place. My biggest issue is that the influx of tourists is seasonal. During the summer, the number of tourists brings the infrastructure to knees and shops, restaurants and cafés are uncomfortably full. During the off season, maintenance of the roads serms to be of low priority and a lot of the shops, restaurants and cafés reduce their opening time or even close, and the town center becomes a ghost town.
So no hate towards tourists, but the inconsistency of this place is very annoying.

politics @lemmy.world•Top MAGA influencers accidentally unmasked as foreign actors
0·5 months agoI get that it’s bad that people with a large follower base are claiming to be something that they are not, but does that call for legal action? Or does it break with terms of service of xitter or whatever social media they are using? Are influencers legally held to a higher standard due to their line of work? (These are honest questions, not just rhetotical. I honestly don’t know.)
Or is the main point that xitter had the information that they were lying, but didn’t put their knowledge to action?

politics @lemmy.world•Top MAGA influencers accidentally unmasked as foreign actors
0·5 months agoI will admit that I lack knowledge in this area. “Political influencer” is a foreign concept for me. What I’m wondering is how this matters. I’m not a US citizen, but given enough followers, I could easily have been an anti GOP influencer. I would put my word out against the right wing because I don’t want their political movement to spread.
What am I missing here?

politics @lemmy.world•Bernie Sanders floats AOC as potential 2028 presidential contender: ‘Very good politician’
0·6 months agoAs a fucked up two-party system, the US cant really have female presidents. The candidate needs to round up new voters while retaining the old voters. A female candidate is sure to lose a lot of votes, just because she’s female and way too many idiots are uncomfortable with a woman in charge of something.
While I’d love to see AOC as president, I think the democrats badly need to find a male to take the role as candidate.
I have been herding cows upwards in the mountainside. I have had a cow slip and fall onto me, luckily only onto my legs before running off. I could easily see how such accidents would kill a lot of people every year.

0·6 months agoJust cancelled mine. I have barely been doing ~2 games per year, and the cost was low enough for me to not really care about the months I didn’t play at all.
But a price increase is the straw.

0·7 months agoFor what it’s worth, the battle mechanics of pokemon scarlet and violet is as follows:
You can throw your pokeball to an empty spot to have your pokemon walk along with you. It will then automatically fight other wild pokemon in the overworld through extremely simple mechanics, which doesn’t require any actions from you. If you instead throw your pokeball directly at the wild pokemon, you end up in a normal, classical battle with that pokemon.
So it sounds like it’s specifically those mechanics that they are patenting, which has a significant overlap with Palworld.
It’s bullshit that this is a patent, and I know nothing of the system, but I find it completely idiotic if this will allow them to retroactively make legal claims against a game which was released before the patent was created.
It feels like a good amount of effort. I appreciate that.
Also bottle caps sucks
“so if I capsize on your thighs, high tide, B-5, you sunk my battleship.”
I love that part.
Norwegians complaining/bragging about high alcohol prices is basically a meme. But it’s true that prices have shaped the way we treat going out and partying. BYOB is fully expected at private parties unless anything else is announced. People rarely head out to nightclubs without being properly boozed up from a preparty at someones home. A store bought 0.5L beer could be as low as $2-$3, while a beer at a bar or a club is expected to be ~$12 at a very minimum, but typically slightly above $15.
I think you might be mixing up with the skateboarder.

As a proud owner of a 23 month old toddler, I can confirm that even my specimen is larger than that, and I could not dream to achieve that kind of velocity.
