This. All of these hypotheticals and excuses people are making are missing/ignoring 1 simple detail:

Why were they editing The Constitution to begin with?

It only changes through acts of Congress and requires a super-majority. So why were they editing it?

@onslaught545 - Seriously? You’re going the “code layout” route? Even a syntax error wouldn’t leave the rest of Section 8 unaffected while removing the hundreds of pages after it. Seriously, look at the site’s structure, each section has hundreds of pages. This isn’t a fluke.

Even worse: They’re going to start creating 2 separate astroturfed campaigns to sell competing ideas, that both actually work in their favor. Which gives the illusion of choice to the uninformed public who lack all of the real context, like you mentioned. You’re seeing it right now in the Republican Party over the whole Epstein Files issue. Half of them pretending to be outraged and the other half making excuses for Trump. When all of them are really just watering the issue down, and buying time while he continues to buttfuck the country.

It’s a basic post-Soviet, Russian Propaganda tactic. And it’s a shame we (the American people) never learned to spot it.

As a long time Frontline, NOVA and News Hour watcher: Fuck these people. They’re literally killing some of the best investigative and science journalism we have. They’re clearly just trying to make this country dumber under the guise of cleaning up the budget.
