Well that’s a gross over-simplification. It certainly wasn’t her and the DNC’s long history of clearly ignoring the needs of the people who want to vote for them while regularly reaching for “moderate” votes. It definitely wasn’t her disconnection from Walz while hanging out with Liz Cheney for a significant amount of time.

People don’t see her as any form of significant opposition to the far-right but they do see opposing the DNC as something worth doing and I’ve come around to supporting them there. It is not their fault that the Republicans won, anyoderately sane and intelligent people would have laughed him into oblivion but the US threw tens of millions of people at Trump.

If the reason he pardoned that guy is a good one then he would want to apply that to everyone in the same circumstances, correct? If he refuses to then it would stand to reason that there is a different intent behind his action. Come now, be serious.

This is the guy who’s in charge as the US obliterates random fishing boats while claiming they’re smuggling drugs. The point is dragging you into an alley and beating you to near death and you’re still completely missing it.

The CCP is guilty of some absolutely heinous things but high-level they do a lot of building and investing. It’s a lot of headline stuff but it’s better than what the US is doing. The US can’t even build public transit within most of its major cities and each state is constantly fighting with the other ones. The people in charge enrich themselves not quietly but as loud as possible.

There are also a lot of people who were in power during Trump’s first presidency who blame things that happened then on Biden. They seem to often choose things close to 2021 so they’re either doing it on purpose or just experiencing the effects of their aged minds blurring things together, combined with unmatched stupidity.

Where I’m at, a lack of excitement means people are apathetic and don’t feel enegaged or like their vote matters. Strategic voting and the ever right-ward shifting of the centre is a huge reason why Canada and the US are the way they are.

You talk about being short-sighted but the only thing strategic voting has ever accomplished has been the ever right-ward shift of the center. Do you really believe that people don’t understand that there will be consequences? Do you really believe that votes made out of desparation fear are “good”? The centrist threaten the population with the alternative and they don’t genuinely represent anyone because they know you’re too scared.

They didn’t primary Harris, they just shoved her onto the ballot and told everyone to deal with it. There is nothing good about that behaviour.

But you just said it right there. It wasn’t that people weren’t excited, it was because the DNC knew that people didn’t really like Biden all that much and yet kept him on way too late, then when they did switch it up they didn’t give anyone a chance. They spat in the face of democracy and I can totally understand why people are fed up and told them to go fuck themselves. I willing to bet many would have voted for Harris anyway if she had won a primary but that’s not what happened.

Centrists are conservatives who only ever have one tactic and that’s where they threaten their voters with an even worse time so they can get away with bullshit. People are tired of that.

The funniest part is that I never, at least from the clips, got the idea that George Carlin was a conservative but he did always have an air about him that I think made conservatives believe he wasn’t talking about them.

Just before a miscommunication happens: I’m a Canadian who votes in Federal, provincial, and municipal elections.

I would have voted for Harris but I understand that many people felt, reasonably so, that she was forced upon them. They never got a chance to allow their voices to be heard and were simply told to deal with it. It was aggressively anti-democratic only so they could put a weak centrist in charge. The Dems lost because they told their base that they didn’t really give a shit about them and the country lost because there are tens of millions of piss-soaked cum rags who thought Donald Trump was gunna save them.

Yea dude. Because only a fucking idiot would act like the Dems are, as a group, good at their jobs. They’re centre/centre-right and do some pretty shitty things on a regular basis if they do anything of substance at all.

But after all that, they are still the better option and highly preferrable to the Republicans. The Dems are the unseasoned, boiled chicken breast to the Republicans arsenic soup; terrible but edible, at least.

“Both-sides” is when you say both are equally bad and, crucially, ignore the difference of severity. Usually the goal of it is to get people to be apathetic about elections which often leads to conservative wins.
