My experience with ZorinOS has been quite smooth. Though i have opened the terminal for advanced customization and problems with my hardware (nvidia gpu and weird disks configuration), i think there’s good chances you don’t need it. Although im not very tech savy and i’ve heard people say that it’s not a very good option because they’re based on stable but quite old versions of Linux, so i’m just putting the option out here, not saying it’s the best

It seems to be a real anthropology concept, and it kinda makes sense for my experience as french, i guess you could be in a relationship without saying “we are bf/gf”, though it seems odd to not talk about your feelings if the relationship goes on for multiple dates.
I don’t know what i think about this concept, partly because one justification is “countries with a very diverse population are more low context” and france is a mix of a lot of cultures, but i guess it’s true in some ways.

Cut it on the side, you can effectively have a nice sandwich. Cut it in tiny slices and you can make nice tiny toast. You’re more hungry ? Cut a big portion, slice one side, and you got a tiny sandwich. Slice both sides, and now you have two big toasts, that are a bit elongated so you can dip them into your coffee/chocolate if you’d like ! It fits so many cases !

Perfectly ! Switched to Zorin for my gf laptop who couldn’t handle Windows anymore, decided to do it on my main PC as well and now am trying to revive an old mini-pc with the Lite version. Everything is fine, except for a short list of games (with anticheat like Vanguard or thing like this).

ZorinOS for closest match to Windows, for my gf who did not care for the OS as long as it didn’t change much of her day to day habits. I now use it myself, and despite a few minor issues and people pointing out that it’s quite out of date software, i’m very happy with it, even for audio/visual/gaming stuff that could be tricky.

I had it on GOG and played with my Steam friends via the code for the session, i imagine it would work? But i may be terribly wrong on this, so dont take my word on this

Me and my gf main distro. Globally works out of the box and can be made very close to Windows layout so it eases the transition a lot, especially for non-tech people. I had some problems when trying to tweak some things, and learned that as it follows Ubuntu updates, it is pretty outdated software, so it can lead to issues for specific usages. But as it is Linux, you can still console your way out of it.

Lmms seems to still have activity on its github, though you’re right that there were no proper release since 2020-2021. Most options i know of have been presented by others, i’ll just put another reference to yabridge, as it could be useful to get some of your vst up and running.

From what i know , it is not easy at all to neither go to China, neither “defect” there, neither defect from authoritarian communist countries nearby. What you ‘showed’ me is people working in China, so controlled travel.

Let be clear : economic isolation of NK is a ofc product of both NK politics and UN embargos. But freedom of travel is not directly affected by UN. The first thing that stops NK people to travel is a border with armed guards, including with friendly states.

So they are barred from travel via plane because of NK decisions on airlines, and not banned from travel via other means (if we forget about frontier guards and all, ofc).

It’s not about forbidding NK people to leave the country, it’s about working.
