  • No amount of hardship or things getting worse will make people wake up. People will unironically think they aren’t working enough if they’re before retirement age and if they’re after retirement age they will say something like ‘I did everything right, but I have no money’. They have an existing framework to view their material conditions thanks to neoliberalism.

This must be corrected if we want people to adopt socialist and progressive ideas. We have to educate people if we want to make things better. There is no way around it. Now we have to educate people during a fascist dictatorship.

  • The answer was to replace capitalism, an extractive economic institution, with socialism, an inclusive economic institution. And yes, it would have taken a lot of political will, which is why I argue it would have been hard, but not impossible. I’ve been arguing this with several users in parallel. If you want to see my argument in full it’s in my comment history.

What’s important is, now that the bomb has gone off and we have fascism, we still need to replace capitalism with socialism. But in addition we also have to defeat a fascist dictatorship on top of that. So now it’s even harder.

  • More like reality show tv police. They had Dr Phil on an ICE raid. Their goal is to scare people. But they are very close to getting to anyone, not just immigrants. And it’s been all kinds of immigrants not just Latinx. They been detaining pro-Palestinian students on student visas and tourists from European countries.

Also, so far they are outsourcing the death camps, to El Salvador, but I think they are probably going to start using American prisons and maybe even military bases. Trump signed an executive order for getting lethal injection drugs to the states. I think firing squad might be the method of choice still but we’ll see I guess.

I use my real name and face on BlueSky where I’m openly trans. The only reason I used my account name here is because it seemed like Reddit and the I only did that on Reddit is because the site recommend it.

I would link to my BlueSky but I doubt you people would benefit from that site and vice versa. You all mean well, but I think BlueSky would lose its mind over Lemmy and I know people here don’t like BlueSky so I’m keeping you separate for your own good.

But push me on it and I’ll do it. I’ll link to my BlueSky. I’ve been openly Jewish and atheist since elementary school and openly socialist since high school. I suppressed I was trans for the majority of my life and I would rather die than keep doing that.

Also social media radicalist? I think that’s the furthest left of liberal on the political spectrum I’ve been labeled on this site by another user so thanks for that.

  • Is the title implying or not implying that her suspension is related to the fact that objected to working alongside IDF?

A Palestinian American medical student objected to working alongside IDF soldiers. The university suspended her

The title says working alongside IDF soldiers. It’s not implying anything.

Explain to me how being a student is considered “working alongside” with a professor simply because they are both at the same school?

At the same time, Mohammad told her Democracy Now! interviewer: “One of the professors of medicine we have at Emory recently went to serve as a volunteer medic” in the IDF. That professor, she continued, “participated in aiding and abetting a genocide, in aiding and abetting the destruction of the healthcare system in Gaza and the murder of over 400 healthcare workers, and is now back at Emory so-called ‘teaching’ medical students and residents how to take care of patients”.

Because she is a medical student and he is a professor of medicine.
