The Patriot Act was sunset years ago, and even before that it had nothing to do with requiring companies to collect information.

Because there is choice. There is very little choice on Windows or Mac, so there’s not really anything to argue about 😅 Champagne problems, if ya ask me.

Ulrich@feddit.orgto Privacy@lemmy.ml•[ANSWERED] Should i use KeePass* instead of Proton Pass, for privacy?English33·3 days agoas long as you keep good backups, and maybe sync KeePass to cloud storage.
Yes, that’s the caveat. You’re paying for a managed solution so you don’t have to worry about that.
Ulrich@feddit.orgto Privacy@lemmy.ml•[ANSWERED] Should i use KeePass* instead of Proton Pass, for privacy?English28·3 days agoI wouldn’t recommend it. Losing your keys will be an absolute nightmare.
So my question is why did I set up two seperate services for this?
Unfortunate side effect of buying someone else’s product instead of just making your own.
can I reply to incoming emails from the aliases created in proton pass without them revealing my address?
Yes. It’s called a relay for a reason. When you receive an email it will come from a relay address, not the actual sender. You reply to that relay address and then the other party receives your relay address (alias).

The VPN has nothing to do with your phone’s location settings.
would the vpn only mask my activity from my internet service provider?
Yes, plus it’s a shared server so it makes it harder for websites to know your location or to track your activities across sites.

You can’t:
I don’t have real-time browsing capabilities or access to specific databases to provide a direct source for the information.
The answer it provided me prior to this, I know from actual research, was completely wrong.
You can load the script into violentmonkey (minus the last line because it kept refreshing the page) and it’s applied automatically that way. You can also submit it to GreasyFork to make it searchable.
Personally I find chat models that don’t provide sources to be completely useless, that’s why I use Perplexity (occasionally).

it’s already very well established that you can be held responsible for seeding copyright infringing material
Right, because you’re hosting it and distributing it. PeerTube is just like a window to non-local content (except for the local content, obvi).

I’m sure that’s a legal grey area that hasn’t been explored largely but I would think you would have to actually host the content or have it on your device locally.
