Well, the thing about being a criminal is that it means you’ve been convicted of a crime.

Trump is a criminal. But he was born in the US to US citizens.

The goal is to make all sorts of things crimes such that it’s almost impossible to function in the US as a foreigner without committing a crime. At that point, the government can choose the people to deport at their whim.

Since birthright citizenship is being struck down, and this government interprets the constitution as only applicable to citizens, expect Trump to attempt again to pass legislation for more types of citizenship nullification.

One tricky bit is, if you’re declared legally dead, you immediately become an illegal resident if you’re still alive. And DOGE has already declared a number of people dead by misinterpreting a few databases.

It really is a case of projection, isn’t it?

This reminded me of all the Republican rallying cries against “cancel culture” around removing monuments to not-that-great men and people refusing to spend time on sites whose core values they disagreed with.

And now we’ve moved to these same people removing any reference to actual heroes of history if they happen to have not been successful white heterosexual men.

Cancel culture indeed.

Yes, they can veto, but others should at least be going on the record and REQUIRING the US to use its veto.

Stupid? They’re achieving exactly what they set out to achieve. The fact that they’re doing it while saying illogical things doesn’t change that.

Because people got greedy and felt they could depend on everyone else to keep the safeguards in place, while eroding them for their own unjust gain.

And those who win in court… have no guarantee that the federal administration won’t round them up again in the future and put them through the entire process again.

And the point here is to flood the space. If everyone is talking about the gossip 100% of the time, nobody has spare cycles to pay attention to what’s actually happening.

That’s partly because unlike Democrats, he’s actually speaking out and taking a contrarian stance on topics.

When he thought he could work with Trump, he went all-in. Now that he realizes that two narcissists will always have conflicting goals, he’s all-in on fighting Trump.

The Democrats, on the other hand, have mostly spent this time saying “let’s discuss working together to come to an agreeable compromise” while doing not much that’s actually useful one way or the other.

Elon may be politically inept and only looking out for his own interests, but he does know how to grab the public’s attention and how to force people to act.

Remember that fingerprinting can be your friend… because it’s much easier to fake an online fingerprint than a real one.

Or, you can ensure you always have the same fingerprint as a large number of other people.

Think of it as the difference between using a different valid loyalty card each time you shop vs using one of the famous numbers that millions of other people are also using.

Of course, in both circumstances, you do give up the benefits of being uniquely identifiable.
