There are roughly 7 million people on SSDI. A good chunk of those who of us on SSDI are at poverty level or less.

There are roughly 18 million veterans. Many of them have been at poverty level or less.

You could give 25 million people who are either veterans or disabled a million dollars tax-free and no strings attached and you would improve their quality of life drastically.

But, no, the Orange King needs his ego soothed and inflated by having a fucking parade on his birthday. Absolutely disgusting and I really hope there will be a major protest at the same time. I might use the meager finances I have and take a trip to D.C. for that.

The irony? Some of those men and women from the military in that parade will be left to rot once their service is over.

I’m on Medicaid currently because I’m on SSDI. I have to recertify my eligibility every year. It takes the local office 4-5 months to make the determination. A LOT of people are going to get left behind if this happens. Local offices will never be able to keep up and people are going to lose coverage.

Those of us on the bottom of society that have to utilize the safety net already had to go through hell to get approved in the first place in most cases. These assholes lack empathy completely because they’ve never had to utilize the safety net and think we’re lying or something about needing it.

If you’re in the U.S. and have never needed any kind of government assistance, let me clarify the process a bit:

• Imagine you’re on a plane and you have to jump out with a parachute to get to safety. That’s scary.
• Just before you jump, you’re told you have to charge up the parachute release by free falling through rings in the sky. That are on fire.
• You make it through all the rings of fiery death and your parachute doesn’t open because it didn’t charge up the release for some reason (why would it, in what world does it make sense to have to do that?)
• As you’re falling you see what looks to be like a bouncy house on the ground. Lucky for you there’s a safety net halfway between you and the ground.
• The safety net has a tiny tear in it and as you fall into the net the tear becomes a split down the entire net and you continue falling.
• Bracing for impact into the bouncy house you can see it’s starting to sag a little. Is it leaking air? Will you make it in time before the air is completely out?
• The bouncy house had enough air to keep you safe thankfully and you never touch the ground until the air completely deflates from the bouncy house.
• Oh but wait…you’ve been on solid ground for a year? Nope, you’re going to repeat the process only this time instead of a bunch of rings of fire you only have to go through one. But there’s no safety net…and no parachute. Just the ring of fire and the slowly leaking bouncy house on the “ground”.

They’re not taking Medicaid away, they’re just purposefully making it harder to keep it. So technically they didn’t “cut” Medicaid. Because, after all, Trump didn’t lie when he said Medicaid and Social Security were off the table, right?

I’d like to say I don’t understand what you’re going through.

I’m a 3x attempt survivor, disabled, and terrified. I’m on SSDI, Medicare/Medicaid, and in HUD housing. My situation is not the same but I see you.

DEI and “woke culture” made me feel seen as a person with a disability and a facial paralysis. 100 years ago I would have been an orphan and hidden away. Not long before that I would have been “sacrificed” as an evil baby.

Did corporations cash in on that? Yes they did because that’s all corporations are supposed to do is make money and bleed the consumer.

If you are anti-woke and anti-DEI then you’re really saying you want to include everyone who looks like you and relegate those who don’t to obscurity either by way of deportation, exile, slavery, or death. It’s exactly like what every country perpetuating genocide has done in history.

What is your solution to my problem of again not feeling like I can go out in public because of this administration’s policies. What about to the LGBTQIA people who are afraid that their marriage will be nulled or are also afraid to go out in public?

Are you ok with fixing people different from you back to isolation, declining mental health, and attempts to take their life because of getting rid of DEI?

Someone has got to start talking about “inclusion” instead of division

You know what…I’d rather live in the Looney Toons universe over whatever the hellscape we’re living in now is.

I have both Medicaid and Medicare because I don’t make enough on SSDI to be able to afford Medicare premiums but it’s a requirement of SSDI to have it.

But…the whole point of Medicaid was that it is there to cover those who are poor because they wouldn’t be able to afford health care otherwise.

I’m on SSDI and get Medicaid and Medicare with the only cost to me being the Medicare Part B coverage that is close to $200/month. I don’t pay copays or for any of my prescriptions. However I have noticed the quality of my healthcare from the same doctor that I had while on private pay health insurance has taken a nosedive. My guess is the office doesn’t want to deal with Medicaid or Medicare more than they have to. Or my health could just be that bad, either way it’s worse.

If this proposal ends up as legislation I would end up having to pay copays for health services and prescriptions I use right now that would most likely not be financially viable. If Medicaid gets taken away from me completely I lose all access and if stopping medications doesn’t kill me then the lack of oxygen due to extreme sleep apnea will.

I’m so sick of being terrified the last few months (SSDI, Medicaid/Medicare, and HUD housing). Just fucking do it already and get this over with instead of fucking torturing those of us at the bottom more than we’ve already been tortured just going through the process of trying to get access to these programs.

I always say I have to be hit over the head with a frying pan to learn my lesson, but jesus I could tell Trump was not good for America when he started running for his first term.

And now I’ll suffer for it because I’m part of the “parasite” class.
