memes@lemmy.world•Remember all those time they told you something and you said "Oh that will never happen"? Well remember this
0·3 months agoYeah but it’s exactly that tolerance that I don’t understand – on an emotional level.
Sure I can rationally construct reasons for why this has developed in this way and why people got used to it, but I can’t get entirely get rid of this initial “how can the third ad in 20 minutes of video not make you furious?” reaction.

0·3 months agoI am just not interested in engaging with projects that exclusively use discord for their community, so I don’t.
Doesn’t feel like I’m missing out.

0·3 months agoThere are ads in those?! Why the fuck are people putting up with that?
Unfortunately that looks like a wearable urinary bag.

Games@lemmy.world•Day 464 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playingEnglish
0·5 months agoI’m looking forward to the B42 multi-player release so much! Can’t wait!
this is a false equivalence
I think it is really useful to be able to tell that someone has seen a message and recieved the information within, without them having to write a pro forma reply.
This really doesn’t have to be an issue, if your social circle has reasonable expectations and people aren’t insecure enough to guilt trip you because of it.
This is entirely irrelevant to any member of this community that is not a US citizen.
I would appreciate if you could post things like this in a regional community to avoid generating useless noise for everyone else.

0·8 months agoMy 10 year-old piece of shit laptop manages to run a full GNOME DE flawlessly, with buttery animations.
You are doing something wrong.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Here another helpful solution for people who want to evaluate and compare different Linux distributions: GNOME Boxes, a software to easily create virtual machines
0·8 months agoI really like Boxes, but since it can only run VMs in the unprivileged qemu:///session, it simply doesn’t support features like PCI passthrough, autostart or even slightly sophisticated networking setups. :/

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Just found out the Signal desktop client FINALLY syncs chat history
0·8 months agoWhy do you need this? I’m curious because I didn’t even notice Signal had this restriction. To me instant messenges really aren’t something that I’d ever need an archive of.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Just found out the Signal desktop client FINALLY syncs chat history
0·8 months agoI mean sure, technically that is a limitation. Realistically though, that is long enough.
Or do you regularly not open the desktop client for more than 45 days?
