  • To be fair, the proportions on the Suburban with the plate ending on 002 are weirdly different. Look at the distance between the recess where the plate goes and the tail light. There’s also some weirdness with the top of he hatch. It could be something to do with the angle (or a different model of Suburban), but it could also easily be an image generator’s shitty job of trying to maintain a source image and losing the proportions.

Obviously that’s not any kind of certainty, but I’d be interested to see the source video that the more recent image was taken from.

Actually, there’s a lot of weirdness with this image. Where’s the Suburban’s tailpipe? Why is the “Suburban” text in the second SUV straight-on rather than at an angle? Did the stairs move? What’s going on with the lady in front with knees at two different heights? Why does the guy next to her look like he intentionally twisted up his pant legs as much as possible? Whose head is that poking up from behind it looking like they’re standing behind an object with no depth whatsoever? What’s with the inverted and blurred reflection of the guy standing behind the first SUV in the same pose as the first image? Why does the guy standing next to Trump have his hand cupped behind his back like he’s doing sleight of hand? Why is the Chevy logo on the front car smaller and not centered over the license plate?

Maybe it’s just a case of looking at an image for AI generation markers and finding a bunch of things that are actually more normal than they seem, but it certainly does make me wonder.

  • I buy stuff that lasts. For bread, I find that rye takes weeks longer than white or wheat to start going bad, and bagels last ages too. I make smoothies with mostly frozen fruit. For dinner stuff, if I’m not feeling like cooking I either buy things I’m going to eat in the next few days or I get these sealed precooked things from Aldi that are great and keep well. Coconut milk also tends to keep better than cow milk and lately I’ve realized I greatly prefer it.

About the only things that are super perishable that I keep around are bananas and avocados, and I just tend to eat these a lot. I also keep spinach or kale around for my smoothies, but I rebag them into separate smaller bags as soon as I get them. If my bananas are getting overripe, they get frozen for smoothies.

I also tend to buy canned soups, which last ages.

When I was cooking regularly I’d make a lot of chilis and pasta sauces. They’re good to freeze and they keep well on their own. Chili is arguably better after freezing and having more time to develop.

You can definitely eat pretty healthy and keep plenty of food in the house without constantly chasing waste.

What? I asked what makes you certain that the dock isn’t designed for it. If you’re certain, presumably you have a reason for this certainty and already know the specs from looking at it. I can’t see into your mind to know your motivation for making this assertion, which is why I asked.

I assume you have some expertise that makes this obvious to you, so would you like to share it?

Presumably they’re not frozen in time. The post was made a day ago, so at least several hours before your comment, and the picture was probably not taken minutes before the post was made. I’d imagine they got out of the water long before any of us were aware that they were ever in the water. And given that the picture isn’t accompanied by a second picture of everything in the water or a story about them falling in, it’s reasonable to assume that nothing as notable as that happened.
