There are a lot of physical things I miss from being young, eyesight, faster recovery from injury and illness, etc. I didn’t have money, I had unmanaged depression, I lacked a lot of self esteem. However, I had more friends(or at least acquaintances), more hope in people, much better physical fitness, and in hindsight a lot of my worries weren’t that serious.

While 3rd party is more viable in NY its primarily in an endorsement type thing as candidates can run under multiple parties (thus listed multiple times on the same ballot) and you choose the party you vote for them under. Theoretically, this gives the 3rd party more sway in pushing policies but it is rarely straight 3rd party candidates. Unsure if the city has more 3rd parties I’m unaware of (there’s Republican, Democrat, Conservative, and WFP).

I mean it’s already happened/is happening. Plenty have refused to endorse and some have outright opposed him because of Israel and his skin color (see NY gov Hochul, Senator Schumer, and Senator Gillibrand). However, both AOC and Bernie have endorsed him. Unless Obama comes out against I’m not sure that what democrats outside of NY much less NYC say will really sway anyone more.

Regardless of exact phrasing it shows how disconnected those people feel they are from politics. Biden dropping and Kamala coming in was months before election day there was plenty of reporting across networks about it.

On election day there were people googling whether Biden was running. The average reading level is 4-6th grade. Most people get their “news” from social media…

Because you’d have to propose increasing taxes. Republicans/Reagan cut the top tax rate in half (70->35) and lucked into one of the best economic growths for a while as the Carter/Volker shock finally panned out and interest rates were dropped. It’s why Reagonmics and a trickle down economy were able to remain major Republicans platforms since then.

So proposing a tax increase viewed as bad for the economy was a non-starter. The capture of both political parties to capitalism and business was probably more a kicked can from Mccarthy anticommunism stuff.
