  • I agree with your point for this particular story, but *my *point stands even if it was a side-track from this story. I am not saying that every story about Trump back in 2016 should have been lies or “toddlers in to wood chippers” clickbait. The media failed us hard and is mainly responsible for Trump through their grandstanding and normalizing of him back in early 2016 and every day since then. If they had done their job, there wouldn’t have been Trump the nominee, let alone President Trump. Maybe there would have been some other cryptofascist GOPedophile by now, but Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Cruz, etc. would have been orders of magnitude better than Trump…and human filth like Musk, Miller, and Bannon would have never gotten near the presidency.

  • So, of the (apparently) 7.4% who do want unification (either right away or after waiting some unspecified period), what percentage of that 7.4% mean unification under PRC and how many unification under ROC rule?

The graph also shows that (since 1994) those two groups that want unification (whether now or later) have fallen from 20% to the current 7.4%.

The number who want independence at some later date has almost tripled since 1994 (8.0% ti 21.9%), whereas the number who want independence immediately or a.s.a.p. is very small and has barely changed (3.1% to 4.4%).

It suggests to me that whatever else most Taiwanese want they do not want conflict or violence with mainland China.

It certainly doesn’t suggest that any significant percentage of Taiwanese want reunification with the PRC today. Anybody have any insights into the nitty gritty details of the 30 years of polling or whether or not we should be suspicious of the Election Study Center at NCCU?

  • You can’t be yelling at me. I most likely agree entirely with your position on all of this except for what non-shitstain human beings will do once they are alone in the voting booth on election day. You probably need to make a little more effort in figuring out who essentially agrees with you for the most part and who is actually a shill for the DNC (or genocide).

I think you may have missed my point. I am saying do exactly as you do up until you are alone in the voting booth on election day, at which time you still vote for harm reduction, even if it is done in secret and you never admit it. It isn’t that hard to understand.

  • No, I am not talking about primaries. If a candidate holds a position which will prevent them from winning a general, in the context of election like the previous election, you have the responsibility to take whatever actions are necessary to move that candidate, including threatening to withholding your vote right up to election day if they don’t change their position, after which, you need to pull the lever for the Blue candidate once you are in the voting booth.

    FTFY.

Hell, even do it in secret and claim even after voting, that you didn’t vote for the Dem because they wouldn’t take a stand against Genocide in Israel. You can even still claim today to have withheld your vote, for all I care. If you didn’t actually vote, or voted 3rd party, or even (God forbid) voted Trump, even though your vote is private, then you are a piece of shit, and the criticism being levelled at you is appropriate.
