Fucking infuriating, even more so how she tries to cut into his sentences all the time. These fucks are trained & think that they are in the right and can’t fathom when the mirror is shown.

There are parlimentary elections this week in my country, it’s looking like the liberals will win again along with a left leaning and green party which is still better than the fascist right wing party which has been gathering support. While they did a lot of shitty things what they did manage to do was a mandatory end of year bonus for all full-time employees which isn’t taxed and a bunch of other reforms regarding pensions and the environment. Could be worse I guess.

I have a friend that seems to be falling down this self help, business, start up world bullshit thinking that her company will be different than others. “I will create 1000s of jobs” she says, jesus… No amount of talking could get her away from the thinking “I want to have so much money no one tells me what to do”. Kind of just gave up and switched the conversation at that point.
Then on the other side I met someone who lives at home, doesn’t have a job and refuses to have one, yet has so many comments on how things should be run. Is there a definition for this type of person?

Thank you comrade, much appreciated

Can people please recommend some media (writings, videos etc) for times of mental hardship? Feeling extremely stressed these passed few weeks and just want some pick me up. Essentially ML material that lifts me up hopefully.

Bought my first pair of bouldering shoes after climbing for like a year. The difference from the rentable shoes is night and day (I know obvious) and the change in climbing is insane (also I know, obvious).

Tried to, but it didn’t display lists for some reason.

Are there any good (and safe/non data collecting) reader apps/sites? For instance Red sails has a great website but sometimes I’d like the option of setting the font size and text width myself.

Amazing, thanks again

Thanks! Was just about to ask for the red sails article.

What exactly is Pax Americana?

First time hearing about that term and it actually explains so much. Thanks for this, I’ll be saving your comment

Are there any sources that I could quickly reference? I know The Deprogram has a wiki that I usually use, but are there any others without having to read whole articles? I’m going to read them anyway, but just as quick info.

Thanks, but it’s exhausting tbh

I agree that staying out of debates that I don’t have much knowledge about should be better, however I can’t just not respond when people spew misinformation about things. Even when I answer with “China is socialist” they counter by saying that it can’t be since they have billionaires etc. It’s exhausting.

Another one regarding China is the mass surveillance and social points system. I’ve made a post in the past asking if the social points system even exists and in essence it doesn’t, but what would be a good answer to the surveillance one apart from saying “The West also does surveillance” but to this I’ve gotten answers such as “The number of cameras in London monitoring people are 30k (idk what the exact number was) and in China it’s in the millions”.

Is this from Blackshirts & Reds? I have that in my reading queue and it’s probably going to be the most important text for me to frame against these types of arguments.

I’ve gotten replies that this is just conspiracy theories (even after pointing out that the CIA said so in their documents I get hit with “why would the CIA out themselves like that”) along with “if the US didn’t do that we would be fucked from the Russians”

I’m having difficulty defending ML ideas when talking with people. The biggest issues being “if communism is so great why did it fail everywhere”, “Communist were just authoritarian”, “China is just as bad as the US”. I just don’t know how to defend these points properly tbh, I just don’t present the ideas clearly enough.
I’ve been journaling semi-regulary since 2018. Used to do it daily, but now I only do it when I have something to actually write about (I just do free writing about anything that is on my mind). Anyone else journaling?
