I’m honestly not sure it matters to MAGA. Trump was critical in teaching Republicans a lesson: be ruthless and nasty, the base LOVES it. As long as Vance or anyone seeking the (soon to be literal) throne follows that lesson then the base will follow them.

When Trump finally assumes room temperature, the knives are going to come out over there in MAGALand, and the Dems would be wise to just stay out of the way, maybe just a well-placed mumble “Are you going to just take that from him?” Let them tear each other apart, while the Dems lead America down a new path.

I generally agree, but for a lot of them it won’t be an instant change. They’ll think they are now political followers, and some of them will be. But most will just get bored with politics as usual, even when it’s an authoritarian takeover of their nation.
They were into politics because they think Trump is funny and entertaining. Nobody else following him has that charisma. They’re going to get bored defending Vance and the rest of the jackals, and either fall away, or worse, start to realize that these guys are evil, and get hostile.
