Have you ever wished that you could interact with a stranger whom you used to see somewhere online a lot.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20160313063814im_/http://www.revleft.com/vb/member.php?u=15483

I remember reading and enjoying this guy’s posts, but I never got a chance to talk to him and I have no clue how anybody could contact him today — assuming that he remains alive, that is. I would have loved to have met him… sigh. I miss him. I hope that he is doing okay now, wherever he be.

Which is funny because for years now we have been warned about evil Putin and is tankies kept saying that was bullshit and that the US is the real danger and look who’s right again.

Watch Ukraine side with the US when it happens. The media will have a mental breakdown trying to spin that into a positive.

The libs never even show any concern for the victims, they’re just like “this will embolden Putin/Xi/Kim”

Because of tthe possibility of a war, when looking at a place to rent I’m actively considering how likely the neighborhood could get bombed

If WW2 is anything to go by then Amsterdam is relatively safe as there are little strategic targets apart from Schiphol maybe. Living in Rotterdam would be worse I guess. This is something I am highly aware of when living in Antwerp lol. The place will be gone quickly.

True, but we do have the Marineterrein which is a ‘former’ military base in the center of the city, which still has some military use.

I am very disappointed in the opposition media of my country. They are regurgitating the imperialist propaganda and serving it as a fact.

Yes, I’m also critical of Maduro for his relations with Erdoğan—there’s a huge drug trafficking scandal about the ex-prime minister’s son smuggling heroin to Venezuela; nothing ever happened, don’t worry. One can also question why he was very calm when he was abducted. But that doesn’t mean he’s automatically an evil tyrant who tortures his people for his own gains, then sold his country to USA.

Any hope for Turkish independence was doomed a long time ago; this is just another example of it.

why he was very calm when he was abducted

Do you want Maduro to be desperate and sad? Why is it a problem that he was calm?

It is not my problem. I think he handled it very well.

I was just trying to get the liberal mindset; I think I phrased it badly. Some libs claim he was calm because it was agreed upon before. We must ask your question back when they question it.

I’m a centrist, I think both the Nothing Ever Happens Party and the It’s Happening Organisation have valid points. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, either with half a thing happening all the time or something happening every two business days.

The head of a University in Belgium, who is also a key figure of the Green party, got caught using AI to write her opening speech of the year and not only that, it contained quotes misatrributed to famous people. Like, fake Einstein quotes and stuff. I just think that’s funny as fuck.

As a reminder, the US is not invincible and their Delta force has been defeated before.

    • In 1993, the US attempted to carry out the same operation in Somalia as against Maduro, using the same unit, Delta Force, to arrest the Somali vice president. They were waiting for them. A Somali, using rocket launchers, managed to kill 17 members of the Delta Force, including two high-ranking American snipers, wounded 73, and shot down two Blackhawk helicopters. The mission failed. The bodies of American soldiers were dragged through the streets of the capital, Mogadishu, in a historic scandal for the United States.

Among all the Venezuela chaos some things lost focus, but that law the Brazilian Congress passed reducing the sentence for the coup plotters was vetoed yesterday. Notably it was vetoed on the anniversary of the coup attempt itself.

Congress in recess right now, but their reaction was rather lackluster which makes sense considering it’s been less than a week since a neighbor country was bombed by the USA. Although the Lula admin clearly wants the veto to be overruled for electoralist goals, I suspect the reaction to the Maduro abduction coupled with the extra time for popular organisation and the typical radicalization of discourse in electoral years might be enough for a popular success.

This year feels exhausting to me already and we’re not even a week in. I’m trying to keep in perspective that’s part of the goal of shock action is to wear down and demoralize, but it still grates.
