A popular theme park in The Netherlands replaced their chicken nuggets with vegan nuggets and their mayonaise with vegan mayonaise because they said it literally tastes the same and it saves animals from being exploited.

Good news, right? No, people are having a legit meltdown about this.

All these people saying left wing vegans are snowflakes but the second they have their beland chicken nuggets removed from a theme park they turn borderline genocidal.

Kinda crazy considering the chicken paste used for nuggets is highly sus. I for one, as a carnist, in this specific case, would prefer a vegan alternative.

Nuggets are highly processed anyway, they’re usually made from the lowest quality of meat. So the difference might not be noticeable, and vegan nuggets might even be healthier (depends on what additives they put in them, you can of course make vegan products unhealthy too). Usually it’s not about the taste though, for most people it’s the texture where they can tell the biggest difference. You also digest them differently. Some people don’t digest meat substitute products well, for others it’s the opposite. Fundamentally the problem is that they are very different on a chemical level so it’s less of a substitute and more of an alternative.

Can’t hurt to try. No one says it’s forbidden for meat eaters to also eat vegan products. As the saying goes, diversity is the spice of life.

Taste can be easily recreated, the hardest thing to recreate is texture. In the case of commercial nuggets, which are made of chicken paste, the texture can be easily recreated with soy.

Saw two nazi dudes walking at my supermarkt. Full on Nazi tattoos, SS soldiers and White Power shit and all that.

Of course they were Ukrainian. I hate dunking on refugees but fuck me man. Imagine a Syrian dude walking around with ISIS stuff. It would be all over the place.

Those look like the kind that call themselves “Anti-Antifa”. Living in Portland I picked up a zine showing what symbols fascists use, what they act like, and so on. Usually they’d be tattooed on, presumably from dedication to Hitler’s cause. Yeah this guy looks like he’d show up in the Alt-Right after bombing a pride parade.

Have a good week, everyone. Hold your ground, stay the course. The battle ahead of us is a long one, and it has already been a long one still, but we will win nonetheless.

    As always, communism will win.

So my family somehow has three branches of like…Hippies [my part of the family], Rednecks, and Ivy League HW Bush Clique Republicans. I have no clue how this happened and honestly I’m too afraid to ask

Edit: I hope one day I can come out as both transgender and a communist. Cause literally 0 of them are gonna take it well [well, except my grandma <3, cause shes always been accepting]

Somehow last year I came out as a communist to one of my cousins, and to my genuine surprise he actually took it well. Most of my family is a mixture of liberals and reactionaries (and almost all of them are zionists of course).

I walk like 12 kms everyday to work now and I had been training for a half marathon coincidentally for the last few months so I have some stamina build up already. But it will probably still be a challenge in the first two weeks with my backpack and all.

I always wanted to walk this route but it takes months to do so. I recently quit my job so I figured now is the time to do so.

It’s not religious for me though. Maybe more of a finding yourself type of thing but mostly just for fun.

China invited the party head of the Walloon right wing party MR to have a chat. The diplomacy of the CPC is interesting because you’d think they’d barely notice a guy like this in the grand scheme of things.

They’re probably used to reaching out to everyone interested in diplomacy lol. To borrow Malcolm X’s analogy, some consider the conservative wolves to be more straight forward to talk to as they usually lay out their demands compared to the conniving liberal foxes who love to virtue signal ideology before any sort of constructive talks can take place.

Just a general life update thing: I’m at a bit of a crossroads in my career. I’m currently at an institution that is not great, but pays decently. In the future I have been wanting to apply for jobs in my field in Hanoi, or back to the UK. Move and settle.

But I have been leaning towards Vietnam overall. But a position is open, that basically aligns with NY skills very closely, back in Scotland. I’m obviously applying (but not expecting much). It just feels like a crossroads of "If I do this, it basically locks out my moving to Vietnam, which sucks. But it’d suck as well to lock out UK.

Anyway, just a lot to process. But the UK job probably won’t even pan out, so I shouldn’t worry too much anyway.

Dang, I wish I could even consider moving to Vietnam (or China, but honestly, Chinese citizenship or permanent residency is basically impossible), but lack of money and the fact that the requirements for permanent residency there are very difficult from what I have read makes it so that I am just stuck in America.

They’re definitely tough for long term residency! I have a narrow pathway that could work, so I’m thrilled. But I really wish moving countries (especially just leaving the US at all) was easier

True, true. I really think socialist countries are cool, but the fact that none of them are dual-citizenship (I want to do political work in America) really makes me sad lol. If you do not mind answering, what sort of narrow pathway do you have for long-term residency (not that I would be able to make use of it though)?

For real. Like I do understand and respect why AES countries make it difficult for anyone to just move and remain, because the imperial core would 100% utilize that to infiltrate, but damn I wish it was easier.

Basically, I work in academia, and it’s at least feasible for me to move to Vietnam through that. It’s not perfect, and still suffers from Vietnam not having very long visas, but I’d still take it if it comes to fruition

That is why I have to settle for other options that are not AES countries, which is not ideal. It is depressing that I really have no way of escaping America without tons of money and being useful to another country (I have numerous mental illnesses, so many countries would not accept me).

Easter Monday. A nice sunny day so far. Spent the weekend with family and with all the things happening you almost forget that’s what life is about eventually.
