Actually “He died” uses the active voice, whereas “He was murdered” uses the passive voice.
Its the correct wording for when someone dies while being treated in the hospital. The initial reports were “shot and in critical condition” so now the headline is of course that he ended up dying.
It wasn’t even the bullet that killed him, he slept in peacefully in his bed.
