  • Dress has become more casual. The business suit was originally casual dress, for hunting, and that with a waistcoat too. Casual Fridays turned into business-casual in the 90s. Then the pandemic fully killed any context for dress and now for a lot of workplaces you can wear whatever.

I like to iron my button-up shirts after a wash or if they’re wrinkled from being packed up for travel but I’m aware it’s odd.

I’ve heard that steamers are a good alternative to ironing, because they’re easier to use and quicker. You can’t get a crisp crease with them but they will take out wrinkles.

  • 1-2 lbs a week is the MAXIMUM you should be losing.

Find a TDEE calculator (total daily energy expenditure). It’ll give you a rough idea of how many calories you need to maintain your current weight.

Eat less than that. Weighing your food is critical or else you’re lying to yourself.

It’s near impossible to exercise yourself out of a calorie surplus unless you already do endurance sports and if you’re looking for drastic weight loss chances are you can’t handle that much cardio right away without dying.

All fad diets are a way to trick you into eating less than maintenance. Keto? You won’t be able to get enough calories - so you lose weight - although rarely some people manage to maintain on a keto diet. Vegan? Lose weight due to reduced fat intake and fat is calorie-dense. Intermittent fasting? Just hard to eat 3000+ calories in one meal per day.

  • I’d grant maybe Transylvania as Central Europe given it was part of Austria-Hungary for a good while. Good number of the German and Hungarian minorities in Romania are from there.

    Moldova? Definitely not central Europe.

Romania is an odd Venn diagram really. Is it Balkan? Sort of. Eastern European? Yeah kind of. Maybe find where the stuffed vine leaf/stuffed cabbage leaf divide is and split it that way. Analogous to the olive oil/butter divide in Italy.

  • Since I’m the privileged default of male at birth and comfortable being a man, I don’t have to be made to feel my gender too often.

Women and femmes get catcalled and harassed. I never have. Women get told to shut up subtly or not, and get their work stolen by men. I don’t. Enbys non-conforming people might get forced into the Man Box and asked “what are you?” I don’t get those questions. So I just get to go about my day not getting my gender shoved in my face.

That said, I’m fairly uncomfortable in highly-masculine situations. Like bros hanging out smelling like shit talking about cars and barbecue and tits. I like a lot of man-coded stuff though, like lifting weights and blasting heavy metal. I also like “softer” stuff like birdwatching and fashion (tho mostly men’s fashion).
