If people would be happy with bullet points we could just send them.
But you need to have a bunch of fluff or people assume you’re being uncooperative.
I’m just this guy, you know? Except on Lemmy.
Thanks to /u/crank0271 for the name
RIP Kbin.social

Anybody who thinks that’s a good idea should be dumped in a city with no money or place to stay and then told to sleep in the shelter.
Everyone is awful
Everyone is cruel and they’re all really mean
Everyone is awful
And I want to scream
Everyone is awful.
The people who voted for him.
The people who didn’t vote for him.
The people who didn’t vote at all.
Everyone is awful.
there’s a whole voter base of millions of young men who turned to crypto because of their mistrust of Wall Street and Big Tech
Are you kidding me? Cryptobros are the worst of the techbros.
I actually liked those things about him, but that’s because I have a healthy disrespect for authority.
Nope. The Senate can vote to expel him but that’s only happened 15 times in the last 230-odd years and 14 of those were during the civil war.
No, it’s us. And by us I mean all of humanity.
Sentience was a fun experiment but it’s getting old.
Let the fungi take over.
Jury duty would be a lot more fun if trials were narrated by the Unsolved Mysteries guy
Except it’s not interesting anymore. It’s been a cycle of the same bullshit over and over again.
What if this happens every Thursday?
Private property laws and the collapse of the biosphere
You’re right that it’s one of the few relatable films about that, but what gives it the staying power is that it is still relevant for the sort of work they’re doing. All of the things they talk about are the same 25 years later, except now they don’t know I’m not wearing pants since it’s on Zoom. Silicon Valley is in the same vein, and created by the same guy. I expect him to make “Home Office Space” shortly.
Yes but I’d much rather prefer wandering through a bountiful forest to a stream crammed with fish, build a lean-to from what’s around me, and sleep cozy and warm under pine boughs on a moss mattress.
Agriculture broke us.
Millions of man-hours were put in to keep Y2K from happening. In their coverage of New Year’s Eve 1999, ABC cut to the Y2K control room where people were amazed nothing was happening.
The only recognition all of those folks got for all of their work to keep the lights on and the planes in the air was the movie Office Space, and people who were disappointed they didn’t fail.
Declaring your future self inferior?
One thing I liked about Kbin was that I didn’t upvote my own post. All my votes were earned.
In this very interesting video Tom Nicholas describes the transition from modernism to post-modernism to a new thing called metamodernism.
One thing he points out is that post-modernist political parties of all stripes avoided having actual stances and thought just playing the part of a politician - wear suits, use the right hand gestures, say the right words - was enough to get elected.
This is almost exactly what Schumer is doing here. As a post-modernist politician he can create his own reality and ignore actual facts.
Oh wow that’s not something that’s been tried a bunch of times before and has failed every single one.
I’m at the point where the US circling the drain is just getting repetitive. Not one original thing in the entire place. Just the same shit faster and faster.
