  • Fuel prices hit hard of you’re a Norwegian living outside of the cities (which is the majority of Norwegians). You really need to have a car in the countryside, as both buses and trains are few and far between. There’s still plenty of fossil-fueled vehicles out here. People keep them because they either can’t afford to make the jump over to electric, don’t trust the EV’s to handle winter well enough, or because they’re worried about the technological hurdle (Norway is an aging population).

  • The main problem with Windows (regarding GUI, there are many other issues) is that it’s never consistent. It changes with the mood of Microsoft’s execs and their need to set the trend, while at the same time having a pretty poor grasp of what the trend is. Look at Windows XP, Vista, 7 and then Win 8. Where’s the consistency? The nice thing about Linux is that you don’t have people on top telling you what the system to control your (“this”) computer will look like, whether you like it or not. On Linux, you control how your system will look, feel and behave. It’s your computer.

  • You’re right, or at least mostly right. About 5% of Vivaldi’s code is closed. Yes, I understand that people don’t like that, but the point of Vivaldi is to be Opera if it had continued to follow the original vision of what Opera was. If they’re gonna stay on that course and be able to earn a living doing it, then I understand if they feel the need to keep some of it secret. I support open source, but among the vast amount of browsers I’ve tried, Vivaldi was the only one that truly sang to me after Firefox decided to go evil corpo. If people want to get their pitchforks and downvote me to oblivion for that, that’s fine.
