An FBI investigation is underway after an ICE officer fatally shot a woman in southern Minneapolis on Wednesday, in an incident characterized very differently by local and federal officials.
Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot behind the wheel of an SUV near the intersection of 34th Street and Portland Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. CT. U.S. President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem both described the woman as an agitator who had been interfering with ICE agents on scene.
Noem, a central figure in Trump’s immigration crackdown, said Good ignored officers’ orders to get out of her vehicle and “weaponized” the SUV by deliberately trying to ram into the officer. She said the agent shot the driver three times in self-defence.

We’re getting to the point where courts won’t be involved. People are pissed.
In many cases, self-defense cases end up finding the killer innocent, because the killed person isn’t around to tell their side of the story.
Just make sure they don’t survive, you’ll probably be fine.
Better off getting a sentence than getting dead. Don’t take the risk.

That’s not what qualified immunity is. QI only protects them from civil litigation.

I agree that cops never being held criminally liable for blatantly violating the law is a cancer on society, and I appreciate you now using the right term to not give opponents to the argument ammo to use against you (not that it’s a likely thing on Lemmy).
I also agree that qualified immunity shouldn’t be a default protection, although it does need to exist to some extent. Even when they’re doing their job exactly as they ethically should be, people can get injured and property damaged. But it should be something an independent review board awards.

Worst part of all of this is no one is asking who the murderer is, name, titles, address, etc. Ofc the victim is identified and plastered everywhere in the news, but not the murderer.

The state can still technically charge the murderer even if the feds don’t, though. They’re definitely there for propaganda and to muddy the water either way, so still to cover for the fascists.

Tbh I’d be a little surprised if they did anything to appease anyone at this point.
Like honestly. No one has been stopping this administration from actual war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the FBI are right in line. I’d be willing to bet that they either stall as long as they can, or just outright announce that their investigation found no wrongdoing and he was perfectly justified and will be right back out on the street; maybe with a shiny new medal.
It’s a white, charismaric woman, a mother, with a mother that’s white and only says good things about her, last name Good. This is very different than bombing some brown dictator commies that “had it coming.” I saw how quickly a mass protest organized. Putting the two together, I think there’s a much higher chance for this to get out of control and derail their agenda. Could be wrong of course.

Politically underdeveloped take. The thing about trying to come up with a third way (not capitalized) is that it will inevitably either result in putting yet another layer of makeup on capitalism and ultimately changing absolutely nothing, or rediscovering some variety of socialism that some guy invented a hundred years ago. Socialism almost by definition has a monopoly on any and all forms of fair and equitable society.
There’s a lot more to socialist politics than communism or leninism.
A third way between capitalism and communism can be boiled down to market socialism (ie: Socialism with Chinese characteristics)

Remember they want the FBI to make it a federal crime so Trump can pardon them. State level prosecution is necessary to avoid this.
Also, the FBI is currently run by Kash “Bug Eyes” Patel, another one of Trump’s picks. If he gets put in charge of any “investigation” he’s going to say that ICE did nothing wrong.
Walz ordering the National Guard to shoot ICE on sight is what’s necessary.
