82% of the Jewish public supports Israel’s attack on Iran and the timing of the attack. 65% of the Arab public opposes both the attack and the chosen timing. Some two-thirds of the Jewish public believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s motives for launching an attack at this time were mainly objective and security-related. Two-thirds of the Arab public think that his motives were mainly subjective and political.

    Anybody who thinks that it is antisemitic to call the settler population ‘bloodthirsty’ is welcome to talk to the settlers theirselves regarding how they feel about their army massacring Arabs, Iranians, or Palestinians. It shouldn’t take all day to find more than a handful of settlers who are enthusiastic about the phenomenon. Trust me, it really shouldn’t.

      To be fair, they aren’t uniquely evil. I’m sure if you polled US white frontier settlers at the times if expansion, you’d see a similiar overwhelming support for the wars on Mexico.

      Similarly you’d probably see German settlers in Poland and Eastern Europe demonstrate this trend aa well.

      Settlers in the process of expanding their settler colony are most likely all distinctly despicable.

        Exactly. My read of it is, the main difference is how publicized the genocide is in progress this time around, which plays into a narrative that israel is some kind of anomaly - but in actuality, they’re following the same general playbook as earlier colonialism but with some modernization to the tactics. So, as you say, it’s despicable (to say the least) but it’s not unique at all. Their material interests as settlers point them straight toward dehumanization and genocide; they are in a place they don’t belong that wasn’t offered to them and are trying to make it theirs on a large scale, which means they have to manufacture a worldview that says it somehow is theirs and that they deserve to have it, even if by force (in this case, zionism). Doesn’t make it the least bit okay, but that’s the kind of system they’re immersed in.

      Half is an underestimate. The overwhelming majority of “leftists” in the settler colony support the genocide. They just want it to happen less obviously.

          “Israeli” society is on an exceptional level of bloodthirsty, racist, genocidal frenzy. It’s not quite as bad in the US yet (maybe because they don’t yet feel the same kind of existential threat to their settler project) but yes, similar dynamics exist in every settler state and colonial power.

            I think this is an effect of demographic differences. “Israel” is 73.2% Jewish, whereas the US is 56.3% non-Hispanic white. By contrast, In 1940, they comprised approximately 89.8% of the total population. That’s why the bloodthirsty, racist, genocidal faction within the US is panicking about immigration and birth rates - the material base for their project is weakening.

              You make a good point. Demographic diversity plays a role for sure. Oppressed minorities are less likely (though they still often do) to identify with the settler project.
