I work graveyard shift and tend not to be home in the evenings. Ups likes to bring my stuff about an hour after I leave
I’ve done driver helper’ing at ups before, and some of the drivers really do go above and beyond and alter their routes for stuff like this. They aren’t required to and it takes a lot of knowledge to remember all thousand stops, but it does happen.
They seriously need better options. Drop it off because I’m not at home. Put it at a depot for me to pick up because I’m not at home. They keep saying they don’t have time to deliver everyone’s packages, but then force themselves to try 3 times before putting it at a depot for me to pick up. But please for the love of God don’t make the depot business hours only.
They want you to sign up for their payed premium preferred delivery options, which includes sending it straight to their depot.
It would save them money if they didn’t try to deliver it 3 times. Which also means they have the time to deliver to people instead of “just missed you”.
If I ever meet the person who made that decision at UPS, I’ll let them know they’re wrong.
If you’re suggesting that they’re not wrong, you should know businesses make bad decisions all the time.
How did you get to that conclusion? Nothing of what I said was supporting their decisions.
Then stop telling me that because the previous owner never closed their ups account that I can’t make one.
But I am home at 1pm, and they still didn’t actually deliver the package!
It was a test. Tomorrow will be 8:59 am.
Rename it to OOPS.
ÜPS
It’s not UpS fault you’re ordering dildos and boxed wine that requires signatures. Go to the fucking store you lazy fucks
/s
You aren’t seriously suggesting taking a shower, changing into clean clothes, and interacting with strangers in a public space, are you? Because that’d be ludicrous.
Imagine thinking that a delivery service where each van has thousands of packages is going to cater to each and every recipient 🤣 👌
I don’t need personalized service, I’d just like them to actually show up when they claim they tried to deliver.
Bruh I work for a postal service and you should read the complaints.
Knocked too loud, knocked too soft, used the doorbell and it scared me, put my parcel in my mailbox instead of bringing it to the door, delivered my parcel when I was working from home, delivered the parcel to my husband and it was his birthday present, when the postman delivers my parcels my dog barks, I ordered size 12 pants and you delivered size 14…
Anyone who thinks parcel people are stupid… our staff are no dumber than your average customer.
Did you take the complaints to heart and do better? /s
No I call them on their stupidity. I’m a union government employee, I know how hard I am to fire.
“The fact that when we deliver something you ordered, to the address you ordered it to, use your doorbell and your dog goes psycho is not OUR problem.”
I wish my delivery person used the doorbell or knocked. I’ve watched out the window as they walked up, put the “no one home” sticker on the door, and started walking away before I stepped out and told them I was there for the package.
Its really not their fault. Most organisations hold their staff to either brutal efficiency targets or have them on a contract basis getting paid per parcel. I’m VERY LUCKY in that my organisations key metric is “successful deliveries/attempts without complaint” and right behind it is number of parcels delivered per hr. They like a guy who does 20 an hour and 100% success way more than a 30 an hr and 95% success. My bosses love me because I know I’m hourly and I just DO MY JOB. Last time I checked I’m at 99.9%.
It is partially the customers fault. People LOVE the idea of next day free delivery, their parcel being treated with loving care, their delivery instructions being followed to the letter and delivered by someone who takes pride in their job, it drives a lot of business… but its FREE, you think they dont cut corners? Most places hire people who will work their asses off for peanuts, which means a high turnover of people who dont really give a fuck to be able to take on those contracts and still make IF THEY ARE LUCKY $1 off each parcel.
And probably drives on the most efficient route for their run.
You’re about halfway along the run? They’ll always pass you about halfway through the day.
My UPS guy shows up about 12-12:30 every time and it’s great. It’s the only delivery service including USPS that I get the same person every time. I’m gonna miss that guy when he eventually moves on to whatever.
And probably drives on the most efficient route for their run.
Not if orion and management have anything to say about it lmfao
Here in NZ I believe they mostly can set their own routes, being ‘independent’ contractors.
I have heard Amazon in particular is super tight in the US.
This is about ups, not Amazon… In America ups isn’t independent contractors, thankfully. That’s a shit ass union busting system designed to defeat worker wages
Amazon’s model means they’re not especially tight; they run routes all day across larger distances.
I am happy we have these guys here around every corner:
Love these things. But I get annoyed when I get the message: “Die Sendung konnte leider nicht in die gewünschte Packstation eingestellt werden und ist in der Regel am nächsten Werktag in der Filiale am anderen Ende der Stadt abholbereit (bitte Öffnungszeiten beachten).”
I’d be annoyed, too, because my German isn’t that great
I think I’m supposed to remove my werden from the Packstation, or it will get beachten and Die. ☹️
I don’t trust a machine that starts a sentence wishing for Sendung’s death. (Whoever that is, someone please let him know that the machines are rebelling.)
Is that the plot from Death Stranding?
We have those but for the public delivery service… And post offices all over the place as well instead of one office of each of the private alternatives for a city that’s 45km long… I wish people would just use Canada Post and let the private sector die.
We have one of these in my building, except it’s shipper-agnostic – amzn, ups, FedEx; even purcolator if they can find a 30-storey building rising the highest above this sea of wwi bungalows today (50-50). It’s called a blue box.
It’s so much better than amzn just ditching packages right inside the front door so anyone sneaking in behind a resident can quickly steal it. It was bad at our old place.
UPS has a service called My Choice where you can have the package redirected to a UPS store or you can sign for the package and have it left at your door. Though I think the latter is dependent on the service that the shipper chose.
For a fee you can have it delivered to a different address.
I’ve used it a handful of times.
When I ordered a watch band that for some ungodly reason required a signature they would accept anything. Wouldn’t take it anywhere else. Wouldn’t accept the signature on the back of the “sorry we missed you” paper. Wouldn’t let me change anything online. They came 3 days in a row (Wed-Fri) before informing me they were returning it to sender. Luckily they tried again on Saturday and we were home.
At least you get an accurate delivery time you can plan around. Not just between 8am and 12pm or 1pm and 7pm
“By end of day”
You prefer 1AM post deliveries?
