Some would. But many were progressive even then. They recognized the dangers of slavery, but felt that the southern states joining war against the north was unwinnable. So they pushed the problem off for another generation to handle.
George Washington was extremely respectful of women. He held his wife’s opinion in high regard, and one of his closest personal advisors was a a lifelong female friend. I don’t think he would have minded the idea of women voting.

To be fair, roughly half the country didn’t vote in the last election, 49.2% to be more precise.
Voter suppression is generally very high so I won’t blame those people who couldn’t vote for any of the many reasons that the US uses, but a choice not to vote is an implicit endorsement.
To be REALLY fair, the election was stolen. From the instant the election was over, the Dems were pronouncing that the election was fair & square, before they could even investigate and determine if that were true. Then they started endorsing the concept that there were millions of voters in swing states who voted straight Democratic tickets, except they voted Trump at the top. MILLIONS!
And yet, I’ve never heard of a single voter who did that. There are undoubtedly some, but they are as rare as white squirrels. Not one person has come forward in the media to claim to be one of those split ticket voters.
I suggest that they don’t exist, at least not in the millions, or even the thousands. It would be interesting to see how many of those ballots exist in Swing States, as compared to non-swing states. I would bet that we would find them almost exclusively in the Swing States, because those were the states Trump had to win, and somehow, he implausibly won them all. I’ll bet there are almost none of those ballots in states that weren’t in contention.
Dems should do that investigation, and then we’ll know if those split ticket voters really exist, or if those were the DOGE Goblins at work.

I’m pretty happy with the outcome. The more America is weakened, the better for the rest of the world and the easier it will be to rebuild to something better.

Less and less fortunately because a lot of companies moved production or at least fiscal residence in recent years. Still a lot of cosmetics are from Catalonia, a lot of food used to be made there (Nocilla, cola-cao), wine… A lot of online stores are based there so I also check were those are located before ordering anything.

There’s strong nationalist movement fighting for independence from Spain there. The nationalists took over the local government and a lot of local institutions (police, education, all sorts of associations and clubs). Fortunately so far they didn’t resort to terrorism like the Basques before them but they are often violent and illegally financed (defrauding public money, Russia is also supporting them). They promote internal divisions, discriminate people who don’t support independence and destabilize national politics. In the end it’s all about money. They basically want fiscal privileges at the cost of rest of Spain. They use revenue generated by Catalan businesses as one of their arguments so the best thing you can do is to not let your money flow there.

Catalonia is a Spanish region, but there’s a movement that really wants the region to be independent. To basically become its own country.
There have been numerous referendums, protests and all manner of political intrigue.
Now, some people will of course be very much against this region separating from Spain for any number of reasons. It would create economic uncertainty, and adds new barriers. Even within the region not everyone is a fan of independence.
So yeah, that poster might feel particularly strongly about wanting to keep that region, or just a particular dislike for them.

In general, I agree with you. If that region chooses to separate, they should be allowed to do so. Much like the Brexit.
But like Brexit has shown, separation also brings some complex issues. And we are talking about something that impacts at least the 8 million people living there, a lot of whom don’t WANT to separate.
There really should be an independent, internationally monitored referendum to settle this matter and let the people decide what they want, without interference from outside the region.

Their food was was always horrible, but it was cheap, and that combo worked for me. Now they cost the same better quality restaurants, so I go there instead. I haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s since 2002-ish. Are you saying their food somehow got even worse?

Cheap but horrible food has never been worth it to me. When I was a broke teen and up until college, my friends and I would go to McDonald’s for food but I only get the paprika-seasoned twisty fries in my country, chicken wrap, apple pie and the occasional cheeseburger. They were the only good McDonald’s food. Now, cheeseburger has gone shit and so is the chicken wrap. The apple pie is still good but I could get better alternative somewhere else. And the twisty fries had been taken off the menu. The only reason I remained going to McDonald’s until recently was because their breakfast menu was great. But as you guessed it, it became horrible as well.
Same here it’s been a decade or 2. I started making my own version of the McMuffin at home. Cant beat deli ham, brown eggs and real brick cheese with real maple syrup on a whole wheat English muffin. Takes less than 10 mins while the hash browns are also cooking in the air fryer. I noticed when I ate McSmegs I was hungry about 1/2 hr later. 2-3 hrs with home made.

The other one was less directly McDonalds - it was the focus, but involved other trash fastfood chains as well. Anyway, it was when Trump reenacted that scene from Kingsmen where the villain serves shit McDonalds burgers with a fancy presentation to one of the protagonists. Trump’s target was a college sports team that were invited to the the whitehouse for a dinner event.
In all fairness, this was WAY more driven by Trump specifically, so I didn’t take an issue with McDonalds (for political reasons at least - their food is still shit) until the photo-op event you mentioned, but the latter adds enough nefarious context to the former to go ahead and assume McDonalds supports those terrorists.
