She does have a point. Republicans may be doing everything they can to rig the districts to keep their majority, but that district-rigging is based on historical trends regarding where likely partisan voters are. It can very easily backfire if there is a shift in the electorate.

What I am hoping for is that Republicans get thoroughly trounced in the midterms, so badly that the nerds realize that Republicans would have been better off with the old maps.

But that isnt really all that likely, is it?

Going from memory of looking at some statistical analysis of Proposition 50 in California, the Democratic gerrymandering-because-Texas-is-Republican-gerrymandering ballot item, the California Democrats sought to create districts where they maintained a ten percentage point lead. I dunno what the Republican states are doing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s comparable. Just to give some idea of the margin one might be talking about.

Republicans have been gerrymandering hard for decades. While democrats did some, they didn’t go at it with the same gusto. The result is many dem states have a lot more room for error on future gerrymandering. A lot of Republican created districts have fallen under that 10% margin. This could have a significant impact on an election if they lower these margins even more during a wave.

That’s in california where they have margin to play with. In texas, there’s a lot less wiggle room and some analysis I saw when they were pushing theirs through suggested (based on mid-cycle elections) that the resultant maps were actually going to result in +5 D seats. Treat the above as me making stuff up though because I can’t find that source now :(

Oh don’t worry. Trump will fire up a new war with Venezuela just in time for the midterms. That will distract voters enough for him to keep doing whatever he wants.

It’s literally the only reason they won the presidency, and they know it. Their goal never to address any issues, but instead make it impossible to lose control in time for midterms. Did she not get the memo?

I mean all of those are partially true but she just takes it to crazy levels because it gets her attention, and clearly that strategy works because we all know her name.

Countries all over the world have been using cloud seeding for decades to help with precipitation. Solar Radiation Management (SRM) has been used in small tests to attempt to reflect more sunlight back into space to cool the planet (via marine cloud brightening, MCB), but the other methods such as stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) has only ever been theoretical or tested at a micro scale.

Israeli intelligence has some satellites that use various forms of remote sensing, which aren’t necessarily lasers, but she’s dumb so a laser could mean anything to her. The Jewish executive thing is actually just dumb/antisemitic though.

She’s probably a lot smarter than you think.

It looks like she’s positioning herself for 2028. “MAGA is bigger than any one person, even Donald Trump. I’m a maverick like Sarah Palin! I don’t mind bucking the party when they are wrong, and I’ll fight like hell for the party when they are right! I’ll work with anyone to make America Great Again!”

I think the MAGats are going to need a new leader soon, and MTG is as likely as anyone. I don’t see Vance getting the juices flowing and Donald Jr. couldn’t open a can of soup if he had a battalion helping him.

I 100% agree. However, and I hate that I’m saying this… She is correct. Cost of living is, beyond all doubt, the #1 issue for the American working class at this present time. We are feeling personally hurt in our pocketbooks, regardless of the subjective level of empathetic psychological harm we are experiencing, which obviously only applies to the ones who care for their fellow man.

Truly, if we want them out, it needs to be made very clear that the GOP is not financially in their personal best interests. Selfishness is a far greater motivator to empathy. I may see a starving child, but if I’m starving too? Shit man, I’ve never starved before. Who knows?

Not a one of them believes that. Yes, it’s true, and that was explicitly the reason. But they would swear up and down that they voted for him because of money, not culture wars. A self-selling lie, to be sure, but if you want to understand their reasoning, you need to accept that they do not believe they were/are being self-defeating.

Again, if they believe, beyond their own ability to ignore it, that Trump os bad for THEIR finances, they’ll drop him. It’s in their selfish nature.

It was also very strongly touted to be one of the biggest reasons for the economy being as rough as it is. The brown people are taking your jobs and wasting your tax dollars and murdering your children and eating the dogs… A ton of people voted to get them out to save the economy. The funny thing is a ton of those people are/were the main reason prices aren’t higher. It’s a self own in like 12 different ways.

I get similar confusion over HRC sometimes. Hillary Rodham Clinton is retired but the Human Rights Campaign still has political statements to make. The confusing part is that she’d probably agree with most of them.

BLM is another one, although context usually clarifies if we’re talking about the Bureau of (usually tribal) Land Management or Black Lives Matter.

Pundits attempting to guess Greene’s motives have suggested that she might be seeking to position herself as the next true leader of Trump’s “America First” movement or seek revenge for the president blocking her from running for the Senate in order to maintain their party’s slim majority in the House of Representatives.

Even without looking at the numbers, I suspect that Trump did you a favor, MTG. You had to move to find a House district that you could win in. I think that you’d have a much harder time at elections for statewide office.

I am pretty sure Trump and the administration have very different plans, that do not involve doing anything for the population.
