The Federal Aviation Administration will reduce flights at dozens of major airports as early as Friday if no shutdown deal is reached, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced at a news conference Wednesday.

Ten percent of air traffic at 40 busy airports would be cut, potentially impacting thousands of flights, though the details of how many and which specific airports will be cut was not announced.

    Where’s the list?

No, not the list of airports affected. The other list. We haven’t forgotten, Donald.

Essential workers are still expected to show up to work even if it puts them at higher risk. Athletes flying without ATC, grocery store cashiers during covid, and republican Speaker of the House while everybody is pushing to reveal that the pedophile republican president is on the pedophile list that the Speaker is keeping hidden.

I wonder how those Airline Companies, you know the one’s who make so much money from flying airplanes, in and out of airports, feel about these Anti-Trans…portation measures?

They just saw that elections results negatively impacted them due to them pulling crap like not negotiating to reopen the government and yet they double down.

Assuming he doesn’t chicken out tomorrow:

It doesn’t matter. This is going to fuck up the entire country… and a lot of the world.

Airlines aren’t going to say “Welp, no flights out of DEN so let’s just leave everyone at whatever airport”. It is going to be madness as EVERY flight out of the directly impacted airports are re-routed to the nearest functioning hub (or what counts as a hub). And those airports are going to be pumping out every plane they possibly can to any other hubs they possibly can.

So expect direct flights from DFW to Florida suddenly getting an extra two or three hops to just try to get anyone anywhere.

      And international flights? Holy shit…

Like most things: trump and the chuds don’t realize how tightly coupled the world is and how you can’t just close one airport and laugh at the libs.

I’ll just add on: If you’ve ever been unfortunate enough to get caught in an airport clusterfuck, those surly customer service agents are some of the most psychotic, and surly, wizards with spreadsheets and databases and will do everything they possibly can to get you where you want to go… even if it means you cross the country twice in one day.

The times I’ve been caught in an airport brouhaha, you know what happened? They called out the National Guard.

Maybe that’s the end game here?

Well that sounds really efficient. Maybe this will convince people to vote despite not liking the options

Other way around here… no taxation without representation. If they’ve shut everything down, they’re not representing their constituents, so there should be no tariffs/taxation until they come to an agreement.

Hilarious. The republicans are going to reduce CO2 emissions to own the libs. Imagine how they would react if dems wanted to pass a bill to limit airline flights to reduce emissions. lol.
